New age buildings are eco-friendly and they create an environment that encourages our approach to be conscious humans to save our planet. Energy savings are gaining importance and zero-waste sites are a big step forward. No longer is any company shy of sharing new ideas to leverage from user experience and learning.

Mann construes that it is crucial for us to understand the kind of work people do, to then create an environment best suited for the work. Some of the common mistakes made stem from lack of business objectives or compromised construction quality due to lack of budget and planning. To have a great project delivery, it is the best to get information from the business – what is the vision, users’ mindset, market, latest trends in workplace, etc, as this always helps the project in the long term. 

“In my role, I work in tandem with a number of service provides and the way I see it, they are an extended arm of FM. They have the bandwidth to support the pool of manpower, knowledge/experience of leaders in the industry, and Microsoft leverages the same. At the organisation level, is acts as an added advantage and support for the FM, and at the same time does not increase the internal head count. However, in India we do not treat this job as a profession. It is still treated as a menial task with low pay. Work needs to be done in creating awareness on the importance of this job and
its delivery.”
