Capgemini builds facilities with LEED Platinum certification. Other than the standard green building feature, some of the best practices adopted by the company include variable speed water cooled chillers, cooling towers with additional wet area, variable flow primary pumping system for chilled water circulation, use of terminal diffusers for HVAC temperature management, use of modular UPS with sleep mode for better efficiency, chillers with cooling and heating modes for efficient use of hot water and AHU rooms with heat recovery wheel for efficient control of CO2 and creating healthy atmosphere.
Though there is significant advancement in technology as a whole, Vishwanathan opines that the industry still faces the shortage of technical, well-trained manpower to handle equipment. It’s also difficult to get skilled manpower to operate and maintain the variety of equipment to sustain their lifespan.
“To train and develop skilled manpower by the equipment manufacturer, both in terms of execution and operation and maintenance is how one can aim at being sustainable in this field.”
