Shakti Chauhan
The first and foremost role of a leader is to help and guide the team towards their goal; this allows them to understand their contribution and importance to the company objectives. Given this, Chauhan declares that “At Reliance Retail, we create platforms, where teams are allowed to express their views, drive projects and take complete ownership of ideas.” As a leader, he suggests that team members should be given the flexibility to fail, especially in case of implementing different/out-of-the-box solutions. “In our limited scope and area, we ensured that we bonded well with service providers in achieving SLA (Service Level Agreement). This required developing services providers along with team members. I feel we have come a long way to deliver best of satisfaction to our customers.”
When it comes to resolving challenges, all teams work together towards the objective, almost like a business group; all have forums, where ideas, suggestions are discussed and implemented keeping the business interest in mind. Environment is conducive for teams to approach anyone and challenges are considered as opportunities and motivation for growth. This ensures that nothing is left unresolved.
On an organisation level, there are ample efforts made towards sustainability through CSR initiatives. Being in the domain of in retail facility management, they have focussed on alternate power solutions like wind and solar energy; plantation opportunities in store/warehouses/distribution centers; smart solutions for warehouse transportations; use of daylight; sustainable procurement practices; and special awareness programmes for store managers and FM team; service partners are also roped in to contribute.
