Equipped with a knowledge and experience of over two decades, Ghoshal is currently handling facilities with a footprint of over 2.2 million sqft across 1250-plus locations pan India, accommodating approximately 15500 employees including the flagship Reliance Centre building. Handling operations and economies at such an extensive scale, is only possible with a structured process and well-configured framework.

Four of the critical aspects that Ghoshal emphasises on are: safety, energy and space management and sustainable design. Condensing the essence of each point, he says, “Given that safety is paramount, every property of the company is geared up with impervious fire fighting systems – these also include Stand Post Type Water Monitoring System that has the capability to spray water right up to the top floor of the building. Strategies like deploying STP, rain water harvesting and compost production units considerable aids environmental issues.”

However, he adds that with the evolution of newer technologies that help manage tasks more efficiently, the challenge lies in the availability of skilled manpower. As a solution to this he suggests that: “Skill development institutes like the ITI should tie up with various OEMs and plan their syllabus around the new evolving technologies to enable better availability skilled manpower.”

Other major challenge is the inability of OEMs and service providers to provide time bound maintenance/breakdown services of critical equipment, which especially affects rural areas – the evolving markets for companies in the current economy. He proposes that this can be resolved by creating a ‘hub & spoke’ model, wherein regional centres can be created to cater to the entire region.
