Nitin Wagle
Over the 37 years of his career, Wagle has worked with prodigious companies such as the Mahindra Group, Shell, Lintas India, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and is now at Tata Capital.
Elucidating on the strategies that he’s found most success with, Wagle says that “Space management has helped organisations in making optimum use of one of the most expensive resources for the company – floorspace. Early on, the focus was on managing the present space requirement rather than spatial planning for current as well as future space requirements. That has now changed and a system has been put into place by businesses to compile projection for the following three years. This helps improve operational efficiencies, reduce operating costs and other expenses.
Additionally, energy conservation is another area that greatly impacts organisations since it is one of the major expenses (third to manpower and rent). Replacing CFL with LED, use of remote energy monitoring tool, etc, have facilitated regular monitoring of consumption patterns that help take immediate corrective measures wherever gaps/leakages are observed. A process has also been developed to create continuous awareness among the company employees to conserve energy. This has helped achieve a significant reduction in consumption as well as reducing carbon footprints.
