The global facilities team at Dell India constantly thrives to design and manage its workplaces with state-of-the-art technology and new-age designs that not only provide a safe but also a lively, collaborative and conducive environment for its employees, customers and visitors. They company has introduced cloud-based Personal Digital Assistants or PDAs, for taking readings of all critical equipment, housekeeping, cafeteria, transport, etc, using Near Field Communication technology. PDAs not only record the data but also help generate insightful reports to manage operations efficiently.
Being committed to the Environment Protection Act and various other statutory compliance requirements, Dell India has listed down and maintained a tracker on their internal web portal for all statutory requirements applicable for regular updates, renewals and submissions to the concerned authorities. The consents and authorisations are renewed periodically and kept valid. The new buildings meet LEED Gold or Platinum standards and designed with 20% hot desking seats. They are equipped with green walls, green roofs, LED lighting, recycled materials, rainwater-reuse systems, solar panels, renewable energy sources, and other sustainable features – and have, thereby, reduced consumption by more than 20% with substantial annual savings.
The Indian facility team is a matrix-driven organisation with a global reporting structure, hence all standards and policies are implemented at the country level as well. Each regional unit designs its business strategy in line with providing necessary support to meet the expectations of the overall corporate strategy. The matrix clarifies and speeds up the process of group resource allocation, enabling the company to maximise its potential. A global facility organisation provides the company with a platform to share best practices and learning among team members in different regions.
