Oscar D’Mello
One of the ways, D’Mello has been working continuously on improving energy efficiency at Network 18, is by bringing changes in the electrical panels without major replacements. It has led to about 10-15% energy conservation. “Cost efficiency plays a major role in any facilities department. Personally, I recently experienced retrofitting success in a 150-seater project with employee satisfaction and safety in place, and by recycling replaced products,” he states. An app-based fleet request enables all requests routing through a mobile application. This consists of inputs from guests’ and employees’ pickups and drops in real-time, which tracks vehicular movements and also eliminates errors. Furthermore, adoption of LED light concepts, three years ago, led to huge savings.
“The facility department is not only responsible for cost saving in a larger organisation but also offers a forum to discuss issues pertaining to energy, water and power conservation, which benefit an organisation in the long run,” concludes D’Mello.
