BMC Software has always strived to offer world-class facilities that provides great employee workplace experience to engender pride, encourage collaboration and promote green initiatives. The office design tenets aimed at reducing the number of private offices, moving the meeting rooms to the core of the building, and placing seats along the glass facade to allow natural light in and give the workspace a vibrant feel.
Energy efficient LED light fixtures were installed, which helped reduce power consumption by 80%. Waterless urinals helped save water by nearly a million litres annually and saved recurring maintenance costs usage of nearly INR 10 lakh annually. Common disposal points were segregated to collect dry and wet waste, and employees were encouraged to adopt clean-desk policy. Moreover, reprographics hubs were setup to eliminate the need of printers across the floor and reduced wastage.
Paul affirms that: “We continue to explore new sustainable initiatives, using different financial models, such as leasing, adopting advanced technology and promote efficiency. There are large incentives to be gained by implementing energy conserving, green measures and designs. Some serious collaboration is already taking place in industry forums that help share learning and best practices across the spectrum of stakeholders like property owners, vendors and end-users. But more needs to be done. It simply makes good sense and helps us contribute towards a clean environment.”
