DSP sees wellbeing and mindfulness as the top trend for creating human-centric offices which focus on personal employee experience. This also leads to office design that is muted in palette with warm and textured finishes to heighten the sensory elements, says Patel.

“Activity-based working and agile offices continue to dominate the dialogue as more and more clients realise the potential of shared workspaces and creating multiple work arrangements that work for both resident and mobile employees, and empowering employees with the power of choice of how and where to work. Companies will try to co-opt the co-working models into their regular workplaces to create start-up vibrancy within their businesses,” deliberates Patel.

Patel also believes that augmented reality and virtual reality will foray into the office in a bigger way and impact meeting and conferencing designs. DSP Design as a practice has begun delivering designs that address the technology needs of ‘virtual worskpaces’, transitioning towards delivering a ‘no-desking workspace design’. Design Forecast by the DSP Research Cell, identified the trends that will shape the future of design, and show how they are already influencing our work – The Design 2020 strategies evolved to provide not only for millennials in workforce but also Gen Z.
