Capgemini focuses on sustainability in energy consumption and production, says Vishwanathan. He says, “While all our new real estate footprints are developed state-of-the-art technologies in energy, water and waste treatments with LEED Platinum certified buildings, we continuously retrofit our existing facilities with demand-based chiller technology; Electronically Commutated (EC) fans for Air Handling Units; efficient carbon dioxide control to improve occupant health; variable flow pumping systems and modular UPSs for improved efficiency.”
Capgemini’s data centres with new age cooling technologies with containment helped reduce energy consumed in their facilities considerably. BMS further helped the company monitor and control all utilities. With all these sustainable initiatives in place, Capgemini got the buildings certified for LEED Platinum certifications for operations and maintenance from the Green Building Council.
Capgemini also focuses on water conservation and efficient treatment of waste water. Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) Sewage Treatment Plant treats the waste water to highest standard and the same is reused for gardening and flushing purposes. Rainwater collected on the terrace is also harvested using collection tanks for reuse in HVAC applications. Organic waste converter treats the waste into useful manure and an in-house bio gas plant produces bio gas using kitchen waste to reduce the campus’s waste to landfill.
