Availability of efficient green buildings systems and setting up of the office closer to the reach of the customer is a major challenge, according to Mokshagundam. Non-availability of business centers in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India is a drawback for startups like Practo too. Improper availability of quality service providers, who can customise and build fit-outs on OpEx model, is also missing, he feels.
Mokshagundam says Practo’s employees love to work in an open office environment, which is collaborative and agile. Linear workstations that are user friendly and break-out areas were designed to ensure employee productivity. Energy-saving LED systems were installed and the entire facility was Wi-Fi enabled for efficient functioning and better communication.
“With constant increase in the real estate cost and maintenance of services, it is important for us to efficiently use the space and manage the services. Technology and automation of FM services can play a significant role in the reduction of operating costs. Setting up virtual offices and flexible workspaces will be the focus for FM professionals in the coming years,” states Mokshagundam.
