Sitting at a computer for long hours or staying in a same position for a certain time was making employees restless and uncomfortable at JLT India. A standing desk or height adjustable workstation was the best solution for this problem. Correct working height enabled employees to obtain optimal working postures and increase job satisfaction which in turn helped them work actively and increase productivity. Moreover, a treadmill workstation was installed, which enabled employees to exercise while working. To ensure proper hygiene conditions, a study was conducted to identify seating locations and their proximity to a washroom. The findings revealed that some hygiene bins were overloaded whereas some were underutilised. After adding a few bins and strategically placing them, they are now spread across the floor and placed in washroom cubicles depending on frequency of usage.

“Having an open terrace cafeteria brings along with it a spate of difficulties too. Pigeon menace is one which we had to deal with at JLT till the simplest solution was arrived at. A part of the JLT cafeteria is a covered air-conditioned area that has open sliding doors leading to outdoor sections. We covered the used plate stacking racks that were left in the open. Next, we placed a net horizontal to the ceiling of the cafeteria at a height that did not permit the pigeons to go up and perch any more on the locations they earlier used to,” explains Ajesh.
