Cyient implemented various best practices in their facilities to show continuous improvement and to sustain its cost-saving leadership. The company replaced existing bulbs with LEDs, fixed light sensors in common areas like conference rooms, lobbies, rest areas, to reduce electricity usage. In order to conserve water, it adopted usage of recycled water in restrooms and gardening. More natural light inside the work area during the day, resulted in reduced consumption of power in work areas.

“We also promote the usage of staircase, instead of elevators, by helping associates understand the benefits of fitness; communicate on the negative effects of using mobile phones while walking, driving, etc; and ensure that the message on the importance of conserving water reaches every associate,” adds Kota, about the list of strategies applied in their office.“We wanted to be self-sufficient when it comes to maintaining our facilities. As a way forward, we are looking at training some of our in-house staff in a few critical areas to ensure business continuity in case of any exigencies without dependency from third party agencies. We are also looking at increasing the level of automation in areas, which can bring our costs down and have real-time information at our finger tips,” says Kota.
