BMC Software has always ensured world-class facilities that provide great employee workplace experience to engender pride, encourage collaboration and promote green initiatives. The office design tenets aimed at reducing the number of private offices, moved the meeting rooms to the building core and placed seats along the glass facade to allow natural light and give the workspace a vibrant feel. The company installed energy efficient LEDs, replacing the CFL fixtures in the entire office premises. This initiative helped reduce power consumption by 80% and energised and brightened the workplace. Waterless urinals helped save water by nearly a million litres annually and saved recurring maintenance costs usage of nearly a million annually. Common disposal points were segregated to collect dry and wet waste, and employees were encouraged to adopt clean-desk policy. Moreover, reprographics hubs were set up to eliminate the need of printers across the floor and reduce wastage.

Paul adds, “We will continue to explore new sustainability initiatives, using different financial models such as leasing to adopt advanced technology to promote sustainability. There are large incentives to be gained by implementing energy conserving, sustainability measures and designs. Some serious collaboration is already happening in industry forums that help share learning and best practices across the spectrum of stakeholders like property owners, vendors and end-users, but more needs to be done. It simply makes good sense and helps us contribute towards a clean environment.”
