Indian software company Zoho Corporation is opening a new 10,000-square-foot office in New Braunfels, the company said.
Founded in 1996 in India as AdventNet Inc., Zoho sells a suite of cloud-based business operations software with more 75 million users. It names Amazon, Netflix, Hyundai, Hyatt, and Columbia University as customers on its website.
Its new office will be in Saengerhalle events center building at 255 Saengerhalle Road, roughly 4.4 miles away from downtown New Braunfels. The office currently has 20 local employees. The company said it plans to eventually have a local workforce of more than 100.
Zoho plans to keep the core of the Saengerhalle building intact, creating artwork that surrounds the building’s history and restoring the Saengerhalle signage instead of replacing it with company logos, the company said.
“At Zoho, we aspire to take the opportunity to where the talent is. When opening an office, we look to invest our time and resources in growing local talent. New Braunfels is flush with potential but these people are forced to migrate to nearby metros like San Antonio and Austin with no local jobs, particularly in the technology sector. This talent erosion doesn’t benefit the local community long term,” the company’s Chief Evangelist Raju Vegesn, said.
Zoho currently has its U.S. Headquarters in the Austin suburb of Del Valle, Texas, approximately 5 miles east from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. During the pandemic, the company converted that 360-acre plot of land into a farm, as reported by Business Insider in November 2020. At the time, the company had 150 employees in Austin, Business Insider reported.
Zoho is actively hiring and has working plans to establish offices in additional locations in Texas, the company said. It declined to name those locations.
