As part of the SECI’s vision to power government buildings across the state of Uttar Pradesh using solar energy, CleanMax Solar partnered with Banda University of Agriculture and Technology to install a 652kWp rooftop solar plant. The project was inaugurated on September 26, 2018 by the Honourable Shri Ram Naik, governor, Uttar Pradesh and chancellor of Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, in the presence of Dr Surender Lal Goswami, vice chancellor of the university, among others.
The rooftop solar plant will be spread across four buildings on campus. The project installed at the education institute is based on the ‘RESCO’ or ‘OPEX’ model, which is investment-, risk- and hassle-free; and will provide solar power at tariffs cheaper than the prevailing grid electricity tariffs. The expected electricity generation is 8,97,600kWh per annum with an estimated saving of INR45 lakh per annum over the next 25 years. The plant will help abate 750 tonnes of CO2 emission per annum, which is equivalent to planting more than 18,860 trees.
Commenting on this project, Gajanan Nabar, CEO, CleanMax Solar, “We are proud to be associated with Banda University, which is committed to research and technology adoption in the agricultural sector. Like most universities with a large campus, there is great potential to achieve their sustainability goals through adoption of rooftop solar.” CleanMax Solar has successfully installed rooftop solar plants for more than 35 educational and research institutes across India, including Pune University, NITK Suratkal, Aligarh Muslim University, IIT (BHU), Manipal education and medical group, Amity University, among others, to achieve a low carbon footprint future.
