When its new avatar was unveiled, the all new Baaya Version 4.0 enjoyed a brief moment of internet attention as a meme. While team Baaya took the joke in its stride, the design community welcomed the new store that is posed to assist designers and its customers alike in re-imagining interiors spaces with eclectic mix of innovative art, artefacts, zany furniture, mirrors and rugs, apart from the classic range available at Baaya. Curated from all over India, the collections continues the thread of quintessential ‘Baaya appeal’ — where tradition meets design. The store also features a Baaya Design Studio, where an in-house team will help realise customised solutions for interiors – be it a residence, office or a hotel. “At Baaya, our mission is to work with customers, architects and interior designers to re-imagine interiors. Handcrafted products not only give a personalised touch to interior spaces but also connect at an emotional level to our roots. Our social agenda is to be a platform for talented artisans who can work with designers to showcase their capabilities and create new and exciting interior styling solutions,” the store notes. The inaugural event gathered some of the best names in the industry, from architects Sanjay and Nina Puri (who inaugurated the store along with founders Shibani and Vipul Jain), Mamta Raja, hair stylist Colleen Khan who came along with husband Derek Affonso, Ashwini Kakkar, Dennis Metzger, to acclaimed fusion singer Isheeta Ganguly (who curated a fusion track for Baaya).
