Project 330 by Purple Backyard

This office fit out was created for two sisters as an extension of their home, a place of comfortable productivity that takes the WFH experience to the next level

The Danish concept “hygge” (pronounced “hue-gah”) can be roughly translated to mean ‘cosiness’ or ‘the art of creating intimacy’. It has gained popularity as a home décor concept, for its focus on designing a space based comfort, warmth, and memories rather than trends, themes or concepts.

Given these unprecedented times and the rapidly changing ‘new normal’, the users require the spaces to be comfortable, functional and also relaxing. This office fit out was created for two sisters as an extension of their home, a place of comfortable productivity that takes the WFH experience to the next level.

Kumpal Vaid, Founder and Design Principal, Purple Backyard.

For the entrance, they used a typical Hygge material – white washed bricks, as the warm color and rough texture of the brickwork gives a feeling of reliability and security, true to Hygge style.

This space is all about an intimate atmosphere, created through natural tones, mood lighting and personal touches. The entire 300 sq ft floor area has a herringbone wooden floor, accented by bold prints via the soft furnishings in true Hygge style.

Area330 sq. ft

A minimal glass shutter divides the space into two areas.

The staff and waiting area is furnished with pieces that are functional yet stylish, and the wall art, statement lighting and indoor greens tie together to amplify the cozy atmosphere and boost creativity.

Hygge engenders the art of creating a warm and inviting space, & the directors cabin reflects that. This cosy area is built for comfort & productivity. The focal point is a gorgeous marble desk, complimented by neutrally toned and comfy chairs.

Statement lighting dresses up the space, but the floor to ceiling windows provide lots of natural light.

The designers used indoor plants for a fresh feel, and to contrast the stark cement finish seating.

In a pure Hygge fashion, one wall in the cabin houses space for art, photo frames and happy memories, tying in the whole space together effortlessly.
