She shares a candid conversation with us on the story behind her design firm's name, her favourite architect, the design philosophy she swears by and more

Minnie Bhatt, Founder, Minnie Bhatt Design.

1. What is the inspiration behind your design firm’s name?

My firm is called Minnie Bhatt Design because all the work that my studio does is a reflection of my aesthetic sensibilities .

2. What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?

The book I found very inspiring was the Steve Jobs’s biography called ‘Jobs’.

3. In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?

My personality greatly reflects in my work in the material finishes and forms that we work with. I enjoy materials that are natural as compared to look alike finishes . Aesthetic longevity is very important while designing a space.

4. What inspires you in your day-to-day architectural practice?

Anything and everything! Sometimes it’s a font I come across  ,sometimes it’s a form and sometimes it’s a recollection of something I saw on my travels.

5. Who is your favourite architect?

Charles Correa.

6. Do you have a signature style?

I guess I do! Though I feel my work is quite versatile and across design genres.

Be true to the concept!

Every great design begins with an even better story.

9. A hobby that sets you apart?

Pottery and ceramics.

Get inspired but Be authentic!
