1. What is the inspiration behind your design firm’s name?
I have been greatly inspired by Zaha Hadid. I realised the value and the weight that the name carries & so KARAN DESAI | Architecture + Design (this was to further inform what does this brand name stand for), my love for architecture + my passion to create anything and everything under the umbrella of design. Today we are designing homes & furniture pieces, tomorrow I could be designing clothes, a bottle of water, may a house on the cloud, thereby, the possibilities are endless.
2. What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?
Documentary of Zaha Hadid on MAXII Museum Rome, has changed the way I look at any project.
3. In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?
I am Spiritual, Bold, Passionate & Unique. You will see all of this in my work. The experience of calmness, challenging the norms, the splash of colours & individuality of each project.
4. What inspires you in your day-to-day design practice?
The itch to do something crazier today, every day in the sense to bless the society with good aesthetics and upgrade their lifestyle.
5. Who is your favourite architect?
Undoubtedly, the king of architecture, the awesomeness, none other than, The one and only Zaha Hadid.
6. Do you have a signature style?
The conjunction of the clients personality & KD’s aesthetics, that’s my signature style, which makes every project unique.
7. The one design philosophy you swear by?
The experience is of paramount. from the time the user walks in to the space and walks out, there has to be an experience that leaves an impression on them. Working around this philosophy, we have always nailed to deliver the best.

DREAM BIG
Its ok to make mistakes, own up to them & you will find a solution. always respect your team. be it be a contractor or a labourer. I have learned the most out of them and keep learning every day from them. Know your worth and be professional.
