Welspun Enterprises Ltd, part of the US$ 2.7 billion Welspun Group and India’s fastest growing infrastructure development company, was recently honoured with a gold award at the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ National Highways Excellence Awards 2021 (MoRTH). The award was presented for Excellence in Project Management under public private mode for the 14 lane Delhi Meerut Express Highway (Package – 1), which is also the country’s widest highway.
The Delhi-Meerut Expressway (Package 1), inaugurated by India’s Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 27, 2018, extends from Nizamuddin to the Uttar Pradesh border and was built in collaboration with NHAI under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The Expressway was completed in a record-breaking 19 months, as opposed to the projected 30 months, setting a new standard for operational efficiency, excellent project management and dedication.

The theme of this year’s National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA) was “Innovation and Excellence in Road Construction” and was hosted by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in the presence of the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The purpose of hosting this event was to recognise enterprises and stakeholders for the finest performing road assets and toll plazas around the country, as well as to encourage and energise highway engineers and employees.
