A legend in the architectural community, B.V. Doshi, passes away

The team of Commercial Design Magazine shares our deepest condolences and cherishes the memories of a legend who will always continue to be a blessing in the world of architecture

Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, (also known as BV Doshi) – The man behind the pioneer of modernist and brutalist architecture in India, today passed away at the age of 95.

With a 70-year career and over 100 built projects, Balkrishna Doshi has influenced the direction of architecture in India and its adjacent regions, through both his practice and his teaching.

For his remarkable contribution to the field of architecture, he was conferred with Pritzker Prize in 2018, RIBA’s Royal Gold Medal in 2021, and the coveted Padma Shri in 1976.
