1. What is the inspiration behind your design firm’s name?
The idea behind Tushar Mistry Design Studio, which is named after me, is that I want to make the brand name more well-known. So, I think it’s important to be your own inspiration for improvement and to compete with yourself every day. It is also a way to make a name for yourself in the market among designers all over the world.
2. What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?
Time Savers Standards for Interior Design by Ahmed Kasu is a book on ergonomics and anthropometric data that I find very inspiring.

3. In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?
Reflection is all about the details for me. I also like to pay attention to how I present myself in meetings. As a result, the way I dress and style my beard, hair, and so on all mirror the intricacy. That is represented in my designs as well.
4. What inspires you in your day-to-day architectural practice?
Innovation and innovative ideas, brainstorming with the team in the studio every day, looking at every new project as a new challenge, and the demand for newness that comes along are what inspire me in my day-to-day architectural practice.

5. Who is your favourite architect?
On a global scale, it would be Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, while among Indian architects, it would be Kalhan Mattoo.
6. Do you have a signature style?
I have yet to settle on a particular style for myself, thus I can’t say that I have a signature style. At the moment, I am trying to expand my range of versatility.

7. The one design philosophy you swear by?
Styles come and go. Good design is a language, not a style.
8. The one design quote you find timeless?
“The details are not the details. They make the design,” Charles Eames, an American designer, architect, and filmmaker once said and it remains timeless to this day.

9. A hobby that sets you apart?
Cooking
10. A message to those few young practicing Architects out there?
One piece of advice I have is to include ergonomics and new ideas in their designs. The fundamentals are constant and must be kept in mind at all times. An important aspect of effective design is prioritising operations and functionality over aesthetics.
11. Which design blog/page/handle do you follow avidly?
Architectural Digest
