AEC design tech firm FivD to collaborate with global design giant HKS on South Asia operations.

FivD, with offices in Dallas, New Delhi and Mumbai, will collaborate with global design firm HKS Inc to lead South Asia operations starting January 2021. FivD was founded in 2019 by Gaurav Chopra, the then Managing Director of HKS India, with a mission to reimagine how people engage with the entire value chain of design in Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

Chopra has been leading the India operations of HKS for over thirteen years. He will stay on in the role of Consulting Partner as the firm reorganizes its business structure. The transition comes in response to a strategic move that the US headquartered firm implemented to expand its business in India.

FivD will leverage its knowledge and regional talent to expand its international footprint. By bringing top talent from within India and multidisciplinary global expertise, the company is poised to leverage technology to improve the design and delivery of AEC projects. The firm’s 30-strong team comprised of architects and urban planners, working alongside computer engineers and data scientists, is working towards identifying, categorizing, prioritizing and bridging the critical gaps in the AEC industry. Rooted in research and strengthened by technologies such as BIM, Digital Twin and predictive programming, their processes are aimed at improving building performance–– for stakeholders and the community.

FivD and HKS have previously collaborated on the redevelopment of four UNESCO World Heritage sites in the historic Indian cities of Agra and Delhi and are currently engaged in several public sector infrastructure projects. These include health facilities for many of the top health systems in Asia including Apollo, Fortis, Aster and Parkway Health. The firm is currently engaged in designing North India’s largest hospital in Delhi for Max health, a luxury mountain resort in Uttarakhand and a GRIHA-certified 500-bed hospital for the Muthoot Group in New Delhi. Other notable collaborations include an upcoming cricket stadium for Major League Cricket in Texas, USA — the first of its kind in the country. The international-standard stadium is intended to be a prototype that will be duplicated in other US cities and will dramatically transform the future of cricket in North America.

Gaurav Chopra, Managing Director, FivD, said: The processes through which we conceive and develop large infrastructure projects in India need to be reimagined. The next decade will be characterized by the adoption of technology, improved connectivity and sustainable living in our offices, health facilities and personal spaces. We are confident that with this new relationship with HKS, we will be able to improve productivity and focus on design and performance excellence.”

Dan Noble, President and CEO, HKS Inc. said: “Our partnership with FivD represents a new business model for HKS that is a solid win-win. We will expand our integrated service offerings to our clients in India and strengthen our market penetration in this important region.”
