German company Walter Knoll has launched a new statement sideboard – Farns – brought to India by Plüsch, pioneers in bringing the finest German luxury brands to the country. With its maxim of “less is more” and “cultivating old virtues with new technology”, Walter Knoll is considered the masters of modernity. With their commitment to sustainability and environmental compatibility, they have been certified as a climate-neutral manufacturer for years.
Described as “house in house”, the Farns sideboard is a fine example of modernity and innovation. Inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House – the landmark glasshouse built in 1951, near Chicago, Farns is a striking architectural piece of furniture. Just like the iconic house, the sideboard also plays with light and shade, shape and geometry, wood and glass, creating magic.
Transparent and open on all sides, Farns is fitted with mirrored panels that make the inside seem endless. Place it in the middle of a room, and it looks like a mini gallery. Its doors can be opened 180 degrees creating a spatial item with a range of faces for innumerable lighting effects. Even when placed against a wall, the mirrored panels turn it into a light board. It’s a true tribute to the Bauhaus.
