1. What is the inspiration behind your design firm’s name?
I used to listen to a lot of pop music during my younger days. Then, Queen, the band, released their album called ‘The Works’, and I absolutely loved it. That has found a presence in our firm today.
2. What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?
I really admire this documentary called ‘The infinite happiness’ by Bêka & Lemoine, which follows the lives of residents in the innovative ‘8’ housing development constructed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingles in Copenhagen. It is a brilliant portrayal of the everyday stories of the inhabitants and how they feel as they move around the space was one of the most interesting takeaways from the film.

3. In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?
I feel we humans have myriad thoughts, and we keep evolving with our experiences. The same reflects in our designs. Over the years, our style has also evolved.
I like to keep the space calm and soft using some colour pops.
4. What inspires you in your day-to-day architectural/ design practice?
My team of adept artisans and carpenters inspire me. Their hard work and willingness to fabricate designs, no matter what the odds, keep us going as TWI.

5. Who is your favourite architect?
Charles and Ray Eames
6. Do you have a signature style?
It’s a balance between minimalist and maximalist. The practical side of me takes the lead, more often than not.

7. The one design philosophy you swear by?
Declutter, Declutter & Declutter
8. The one design quote you find timeless?
“What works good is better than what looks good, because what works good lasts.” by Ray Eames.

9. A hobby that sets you apart?
Both Raj and I are passionate about the ocean and are advanced-level open-water divers.
We make time out for this every couple of months a year.

10. A message to those few young practising Architects out there?
Find a mentor and work under them. Realise your style and hone your skills. And most importantly, believe in yourself.
