As we enter and navigate our way through a new era of work, the need for adaptable and portable storage solutions that can enhance the utility and functionality of the office space is an understated requirement. To address the needs of the new-age workforce, Steelcase has reimagined personal storage to not only serve as a sleeker catch-all solution but an ever-present and mobile seating option.
Designed to challenge the outdated and traditionally boxy and bulky aesthetics that have defined the category for far too long, Edvi breathes new life into the concept of storage with its unique and almost sci-fi-esque curve wrap shell that creates a striking silhouette. Crafted precisely from a single piece of sheet metal, Edvi’s unjointed structure and flowing lines lend a sense of modernity and futurism that is complemented by its thoughtful curvature across both sides. This continuous ‘shadow line’ between the shell on the storage doors adds an extra element of comfort for users while lending a floating and airy aesthetic to the wrap.

Conceptualised to be an active companion on the move, the curved cushion top easily snaps into place with a strong magnetic grip and transforms into posture supporting extra seating at a moment’s notice. Workplaces rarely see stagnation and since people are constantly on the move at work, Edvi can mirror these movements with an added ease. Hoisted on specially engineered castors, called the ‘Archie’, with a diameter of 65mm to encourage dynamic movement, Edvi can support a weight load of up to 300 lbs or 136 kg. This allows users to glide across the work floor with ease to increase collaboration, pull into quick discussions at a colleague’s desk or simply tuck Edvi away under the desk when not in use.

In tandem with reinventing the universal understanding of personal storage, Edvi not only serves as a companion in the workspace but a companion to the environment. Composed of 25% recycled materials by weight, the steel that brings Edvi to life is 100% recyclable and its easy-to-dissemble structure helps streamline recycling. Edvi also minimises the use of plastic as 93% of its material weight is comprised of metal, to prolong its use and longevity.
With over 1800 possible colour configurations and 33 colours readily available, plus 6 different fabrics in over 100 colour options for the cushion top to choose from, Edvi places creative control in the able hands of the user. Customisation is encouraged to personalise your Edvi to accentuate your workspace and the existing colour schemes to add a touch of personality to the surrounding space.
