The design of the institute emerges from the fusion of a rich traditional building knowledge bank and cutting-edge contemporary architectural intent. The architects vision was to craft an academic social community that would provide the users with a friendly, vibrant, and secure atmosphere, with a focus on enhanced management and optimized use of shared areas and common resources.

Multiple verandahs, courtyards and terraces have been scooped out to allow for visual permeability and to provide porosity to the built volume, whilst servingas outdoor learning spaces.  The built form is placed around a courtyard comprising of classrooms, library, dormetc.

Envisaged as a block of high thermal mass, themorphology of the building has been designed to capture the natural windflow. Larger volumes are placed on the South side to cut off the sun and to provide shade in internal courtyards.

To tackle the harsh climate of the region, the orientations have been moderated by folding the surfaces in and out to create a barcoded rib that serves dual functions of shading and storage devices.
