The expansion in Gujarat, starting with Ahmedabad, is another step taken to establish a stronger footing towards the growth of Tier II and III cities, which are rising as preferred office locations for a number of global and Indian corporates owing to economical real estate and government support. Being one of the most industrially developed states, increased FDI inflow and competitive infrastructure, Gujarat has been growing at the rate of 13.47% during 2011-12 to 2016-17 (according to ibef). The launch in Ahmedabad will further accelerate this growth by providing business comprehensive workspace research, latest trends and an in-depth knowledge quotient from around the globe to enable a productive and profitable workspace.

Speaking during the launch, Uli Gwinner, president, Steelcase Asia Pacific said “Workspace dynamics in India are changing faster than ever before with an influx of a younger and more dynamic workforce that believes in working smarter, faster and more efficiently. Hence, it becomes important to imagine and prepare for human experiences at a place where people spend extensive hours awake, and need to be agile to function efficiently. With India emerging as one of the most promising economic hubs with a huge demand for employee centric solutions, it becomes all the more important for us to capture the growing demand for such new age workspaces.”

Further commenting on the development, Praveen Rawal, MD, Steelcase India and South East Asia said, “In Ahmedabad, the business climate and infrastructure is ideal for a brand driven by culture and innovation. Emerging to be one of the fastest developing cities with top businesses in the country, we believe Steelcase will help in introducing and supporting the new working demands of entrepreneurs. The aspiration to escalate in terms of building and creating better offices centred on employee productivity and well-being poses as a perfect opportunity to expand our operations and foster an agile workspace culture”.
