Firm name – Architect Akshay Selukar.
2. What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?
BEDMaR & Shi, In the Tropics by Oscar Riera Ojeda. As it showcases and highlights phenomenal works of all categories by Architects all over the world.
3. In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?
Personality plays a significant role in shaping your design approach and style, design aesthetic, functionality and practicality, sustainability and social consciousness, attention to detail. Remember that while personality can certainly influence your designs, it is also essential to consider the specific requirements, context, and client’s needs for each project. Balancing personal style with the project’s objectives is crucial to create successful and meaningful architectural designs.

4. What inspires you in your day-to-day architectural practice?
Architects draw inspiration from a variety of sources in their day-to-day architectural practice from everyday life and human experience, personal reflection and inspiration, travel and exploration, collaboration and dialogue, client’s vision and needs, historical and cultural references etc. It’s important to note that inspiration is a deeply personal and subjective experience, and different architects may find motivation from various sources depending on their individual interests and design approaches.
5. Who is your favorite architect?
Charles Correa was indeed an influential architect who served as an inspiration for many in the field. His work drew inspiration from traditional Indian architecture while also incorporating modernist principles and sustainable design strategies.

Modern contemporary architecture as it emphasizes on clean lines, simplicity, and a seamless integration of indoor-outdoor spaces and allows creativity with individual interpretation.
7. The one design philosophy you swear by?
“Each new situation requires a new architecture.” by Jean Nouvel. This philosophy encases the essence of our profession and reminds us of the vital role inspiration plays in our design process.

8. The one design quote you find timeless?
“As an architect, you design for the present with an awareness of the past for future which is essentially unknown.” by Norman Foster. This quote envelop the essence of architectural design, highlighting the importance of understanding history, embracing the present, and envisioning a future that responds to the evolving needs of society.
9. A hobby that sets you apart?
Traveling is a great source of inspiration and an opportunity to explore different architectural styles, designs, and cultures. It allows you to observe and appreciate the unique characteristics of various cities and landmarks around the world.

10. A message to those few young practicing Architects out there?
Remember that architecture is a collaborative effort. Your work will involve working with a team of professionals including engineers, contractors, and consultants. Be open to constructive criticism and feedback, and always strive to build positive and productive working relationships with your team.
