Huddle
Co-founders of Huddle, Ishaan Khosla and Sanil Sachar believe that if there’s one word that reinstates the importance of coworking to the industry, it is flexibility
What are the key leverage points for coworking spaces in India?
The demand is coming from two ways. It’s not only what the co-worker wants but what coworking spaces are adding to their spaces, in terms of infrastructure and services. This is leading to more demand for such lucrative spaces. There is a western influence to many factors in India. This isn’t only apparent in certain startups but also in the way more and more professionals value the importance of networking. Coworking spaces that hold a strong network, which means from the founding team to those that work in the space, become a key factor to why the space is promising. If I had to provide just one word to reinstate the importance of coworking to this sector, it is: flexibility. Spaces such as ours enable corporates to leverage an asset light model, while benefitting from all the attributes they leveraged in the past.
What is the design formula adopted by Huddle for its spaces?
Each corner of the space has its own identity. This goes beyond the various desk sizes and their unique shapes. We have refrained from using motivational quotes or images and have utilised the power of smart design thinking, through innovative lighting. Our design methodology is to inspire creativity and, to achieve this, we have used a lot of glass and metal with different tones rather than using anything that can be replicated easily. From a brainstorming pad as you enter, to a television constantly making others huddle together to watch sports, the idea of the space is to provide comfort without adding a set theme. The most important factor for a space like ours is to create an environment that is contextual to all. For us, we understand each co-worker well enough to be fully entrenched in their work. This happens through spending enough time with them and then seeing how we can support them beyond the space. The goal is to always create maximum output for our co-workers. This comes through one-on-one mentoring sessions, events, and, most of all, by providing them the relevant connections and intellectual support, in case they face any roadblocks.
What are some of the biggest challenges in the sector currently?
There are a plethora of coworking options, however co-workers need to be vary of where they choose to work. Not every coworking space is apt for them and the challenge lies in providing each member contextual support apart from the space. Infrastructure only goes a short distance in doing so.
