Interior designer and stylist Sanjyt Syngh, known for his bold and creative ideas, has unveiled sophisticated corporate spaces that make you rethink about the traditional notions about office interiors.
Who says, office spaces should be straight-jacket and drab? Designer Sanjyt Syngh’s work for a 16,000 sqft office space in BKC, Mumbai shows you otherwise. “These office spaces break the norms of a conventional Indian office, and in one simple word can be described as ‘curated’. The objective was to create something you can see in any part of the world. This office hosts art, objects collected from around the world, textiles in a curated manner, the essence of the space primarily comes from the art featured. Some of the art is quirky, some of it is rebellious, some of it is inspired from the nature of business,” says Sanjyt Syngh.
ONE BKC, Mumbai
This 16,000 sqft office, located in one of the premier high rises in BKC, Mumbai, is conceived as a single volumetric form by integrating four unit spaces. The brief was to create a non-typical, luxurious corporate office where every suite would have its own identity and a self-contained space to host visitors. Highlighting its expanse, each element has its place in the space and creates a look that is luxurious and sophisticated. Stylish sofas and loungers are given equal importance as the efficient and ergonomic conference tables and chairs. The mission was to make practicality and functionality appear comfortable and beautiful.
“The challenge was to combine four large units into one cohesive space with two separate entry points, one for the management and one for the staff and visitors. Small details like bas-relief make for an interesting proposition. We decided to treat each suite with a different accent colour. We also used the three-sided glazing to our advantage. Natural light plays an important role in this space. We created drama by adding gigantic pieces of art, sculptures and by using coloured glass as partition walls.”
“We personally don’t like the word challenges. We call it making the best out of a given space. In this case we maximised the views from every angle possible. Also in order to avoid obstruction of views, we used special mechanisms to slide the television into the ceiling out of sight when not in use.”
This was a turnkey project, where the Sanjyt Syngh Design Consultancy designed every inch of the space, sourced and selected furnishings from either local partners or European vendors. And were successful in creating a space that leaves a lasting impression of sophistication, functionality, style and beauty.
