  • What is the inspiration behind your design firm’s name?

The keystone of our establishment is a simple tool, Collaboration.By working together with others, we can leverage different strengths and expertise, tap into diverse perspectives, and achieve outcomes that may not be possible when working alone.Collaboration fosters innovation, enhances problem-solving capabilities, and can lead to the development of new products, services, or solutions.

Hence our firms name : ColabCompany

  • What is that one design book/movie you found inspiring?

“Iris: A Life of Style” is a documentary that explores the life and style of Iris Apfel, a fashion icon known for her unique and eclectic sense of fashion. Directed by Albert Maysles, the film offers a captivating portrait of Iris and her remarkable journey in the world of fashion.

Overall, the film celebrates Iris Apfel’s vibrant personality, unapologetic style, and her enduring passion for fashion. It serves as an inspiring reminder that fashion is a form of self-expression and can be a source of joy, creativity, and empowerment at any age, which resonates with our Ethos.

  • In what ways does your personality reflect in your designs?

Both Saloni and I have a creative mindset and are often able to connect seemingly unrelated ideas or concepts. This ability to think outside the box allows us to approach problem-solving in innovative ways.

Our eclectic personality is characterised by an embrace of variety, a love for exploration, and a willingness to step outside the boundaries of convention

  • What inspires you in your day-to-day architectural practice?

We as a team learn something new everyday, be it from our creative process, on site experiences and the works of our peer. We as a bunch are very curious and are not afraid to take risks.

  • Who is your favourite architect?

Masquespacio, admire their innovative approach in search of unique and out of the box experiences for each design.

  • Do you have a signature style?

We feel for a style to become ‘signature’ it takes decades. We currently see ourselves moving towards Eclectic Mid Century aesthetics and are resonating quite well with it.

  • The one design philosophy you swear by?

Maximalism is here to stay. Maximalism allows for greater freedom of self-expression.It encourages people to surround themselves with objects and designs that reflect their unique personalities and interests. In a world where personalisation and authenticity are highly valued, maximalism offers a way to break away from uniformity and express individuality.

  • The one design quote you find timeless?

“Design is thinking made visible.” – Saul Bass It makes thinking tangible!

  • A hobby that sets you apart?

Poker! It also offers valuable insights and lessons that can be applied to various aspects of life. This skill can be valuable in making informed decisions in various situations, whether it’s in business, investments, or everyday life choices.

  • A message to those few young practising Architects out there?

Enjoy the process and the journey, the rest will all follow. Don’t chase to be somewhere or to be someone, It holds you back.
