Manifesting WORK + PLAY - KPMG office by ANA Designs

Located in the heart of Navi Mumbai, the KPMG office is the hub for all new recruits to come and experience the culture of KPMG as an organisation before they move on to their corporate roles across the globe.

The space thrives in newness both in terms of location and the intent of the space. As a space that manifests the ideology of the brand that represents transition and transformation, while demanding an energetic and dynamic design, the design is playful and youthful on one hand and functional, efficient, and forward-thinking on the other.

The idea was to design the premise in a manner that it instantly connected with the young and free, new recruits who have just entered the corporate world, thereby manifesting WORK + PLAY together into a single office space.

Symbolically representing the energy of the city and people, the spaces have been treated with a varied range of approaches that are vivid and joyful, to align with the out of the box thinking of the generation Z, blending in with the seriousness of a corporate workplace. The design symbolically represents the chaos of the city and its people adding an element of surprise and curiosity, making the spaces come to life!

The aim of the design was to create a space that instantly appeals to the youth instead of overwhelming them; team and community building through design was a central idea. Flexibility was a key aspect that was incorporated to cater to the varied requirements of the young individuals, each adhering to a different style of working.

Diverse themes have been crafted to distinguish the range of spaces, each with a distinct identity and color to uplift team spirit. Inspired by outdoor elements and adventures to create spaces full of surprise and curiosity, various elements and furniture come together to seamlessly connect the spaces.

For instance, the break-out spaces have been designed in forms inspired by the amphitheater or stadiums to foster the feelings of community and togetherness, whereas the cafeteria is designed to generate oneness with nature by creating forest-inspired details with a safari theme.

Curved walls and glass partitions have been used to depict the seamless and resolved flow through the creative spaces. The ceilings have been adorned with design interventions and the floors with inspiring furniture pieces all in consistency with the theme of the space.

However, design interventions have not compromised the functional and utilitarian aspects of office design. The best kind of workplace in terms of flexibility (hot desking), agility, and services have been provided. The aspects of sustainability haven’t been overlooked either, and are imbibed as key elements of design to be understood by young individuals who would take this principle ahead as they grow.

With the use of planters and living green screens, the design is responsible as well as rejuvenating for its inhabitants and well-being, inspiring the fresh recruits to dive deeper into the company’s culture and achieve the highest levels of productivity.
